The Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair has announced that 19 schools registered in December to utilize CCAR’s S/P2 online training in Safety and Pollution Prevention in their automotive training programs.

The new schools include:

  • Clearfield Job Corps, Clearfield, Utah.

CCAR offers S/P2 free of charge to automotive training programs, and there are currently 2,372 schools across the U.S. enrolled in S/P2, representing a student population of more than 196,000.

S/P2 was developed by CCAR in accord with U.S. EPA and OSHA standards, which require shop personnel and students to be trained at least annually on safety and environmental regulations. For businesses, S/P2 is available for a $299 annual subscription per facility. The S/P2 courseware tracks technician/student progress through the training, grades tests and is regularly updated as changes occur in federal and state laws.

“We applaud those schools that have already been using S/P2 and welcome the new additions,” said Robert G. Stewart, CCAR president. “Providing students with the knowledge of how to be EPA and OSHA compliant before they enter into the workforce is how CCAR is changing the automotive repair industry for the better.”

CCAR, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, also operates “CCAR-GreenLink(R),” the National Environmental Compliance Assistance Center for Automotive Repair, in cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
