Keystone Automotive Donates $10,000 to Collision Industry Relief

The Collision Industry Foundation (CIF) has received a $10,000 donation from Keystone Automotive, a leading North American supplier of premium replacement auto body parts and supplies to the Collision Repair Industry. The funds will be put to use in support of the CIF’s Collision Industry Relief project, which helps collision repairers adversely affected by Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters.

The gift is timely, in more ways than one. Chuck Sulkala, CIF co-founder and executive director of the National Auto Body Council (NABC), has been seeking expanded corporate involvement to enable the Foundation to assist those that need it most. The contribution gives a much-needed boost to the CIF— specifically the Collision Industry Relief effort, which needs over $10,000 per week just to cover the loss of such basics as the tools industry professionals need to get back to work, perform their jobs, and provide for themselves and their families.

In addition, the donation commemorates the re-opening of Keystone’s New Orleans branch, which underwent eight months of reconstruction and complete inventory renewal after suffering $2 million in damage to buildings, inventory, and equipment in the wake of Katrina. Company members from in and about the region pulled together to ensure that Keystone’s customers suffered a minimum of disruption to service and that employees displaced by the tragedy made the smoothest possible transition back to normalcy in their lives.

“We’re extremely proud to be able to support the good work being done by the Collision Industry Foundation,” said Keystone President and CEO Rick Keister. “We are also proud of our people who all worked long and hard to get this location up and running again. To celebrate, we wanted to do something good for our colleagues.”

“The help Keystone has extended to the CIF shines like a light through the gloom of storm darkened skies,” stated Sulkala. “Their magnanimous act is doubly special knowing the time, effort, and expense they spent helping out their own folks. This is a company with a big heart and a lot of empathy for those in need. Rick and his team know the kind of character it takes to be on the front lines. In fact, Keystone was recognized as a 2005 PRIDE winner for its exemplary example of corporate citizenship through their many donations and instances of humanitarian aid, not only in the U.S., but around the world. It is an honor to work with such a company and to celebrate with them the reopening of their locations. They are, indeed, a ‘keystone’ of the Collision Industry Relief effort.”

Keystone Automotive Industries, Inc. distributes its products primarily to collision repair shops through 136 distribution facilities, of which 22 serve as regional hubs, located in 38 states and Canada.

The Collision Industry Foundation seeks to raise funds through projects and initiatives that provide for charitable or educational causes reflecting the character and heart of the men and women of the collision repair industry. This includes the Collision Industry Relief effort, a project within the Collision Industry Foundation to help collision industry victims of current disasters and those that may happen in the future.
