Business Tools | Thursday October 12 DeWitt Publishing Acquires Collision NewsDeWitt Publishing, LLC (DPL), a leading publisher of regional collision repair magazines, has acquired Collision News from OAS Inc., a monthly collision repair publication covering several states and areas in the Southeast. With the acquisition, Collision News will be merged with FenderBender magazine. FenderBender, which currently serves 16 states with four regional editions, will debut in the Southeast market in January 2007. It is the final major market in the collision repair industry that FenderBender will reach. Collision News was launched in 1990, and has covered the collision repair industry in Georgia, Alabama, major cities in Tennessee, and Jacksonville, Florida. With this acquisition and other edition expansions taking place in 2007, FenderBender now will cover more than 85 percent of the U.S. collision repair market. Along with the launch of its West and Southwest editions in early 2006, FenderBender has more than doubled its market coverage in the past year. “We have been on a path of steady growth, and the acquisition of Collision News expands our geographic footprint into a region where we previously didn’t have a presence,” said Jay DeWitt, publisher of FenderBender. “It gives us one of the last critical pieces to the goal of having national coverage.” Eric Skogman, editor-in-chief of FenderBender magazine, will be responsible for implementing the editorial strategy into the new Southeast edition. “With this acquisition and the expansion of current editions, I am looking forward to heading up the editorial charge into 2007,” Skogman said. FenderBender magazine is currently published in four U.S. regions covering eight of the autobody industry’s top ten states. Beginning in January 2007, it will be published in 35 states, covering 85 percent of the collision repair market. ©2006 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
