Business Tools | Monday November 27 SCRS Prepares to Celebrate 25th AnniversaryIn 1982, the collision repair industry stood poised to enter a new era. Auto manufacturers were incorporating unibody construction into their vehicles. Urethane paint systems requiring hi-tech paint booths were emigrating from Europe. Vocal entrepreneurs insisted that shop survival depended upon disciplined management processes and a personal computer. The insurance industry had begun writing estimates with a system that used complex algorithms to spit out parts, labor times, and overlap, as if by magic.Across the nation, collision repair businesses tried to cope with the impact of this paradigm shift and its not yet known impact, but the scope and number of the changes they faced made it difficult. Like never before, they needed training, perspective, information and support. And they would get it, thanks in large part to a pioneering group of 32 collision repairers who formed an association that would help re-image the collision repair industry into the profession it is today. The name of this band of visionaries was the Society of Collision Repair Specialists(SCRS), and their legacy remains. The organization they created is still going strong 25 years later, dedicated to the industry’s success and the essential understanding that “Working Together Is the Most Important Work We Do.” For that reason, on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, SCRS will be celebrating its proud heritage—a quarter century of educating, informing, and representing the collision repair professional—at a special 25th Anniversary Celebration to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Additional information about the events on and surrounding April 10th will be announced as they become available. Through its direct members and 32 affiliate associations, SCRS is comprised of 5,000 collision repair businesses and 58,500 specialized professionals who work with consumers and insurance companies to repair collision-damaged vehicles. ©2006 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
