NAPDRT Calls On Insurance Industry to Adopt PDR Certification Process By 2009

The National Alliance of PDR Technicians (NAPDRT) has called on the Insurance Industry to adopt and enforce a PDR Certification process by the start of the 2009 hail season.

Jamie Hawkins, Interim President of NAPDRT, commented, “The NAPDRT is asking the Insurance Industry to help us - help them. Our organization is composed of hundreds of small businesses that are trying to do the right things for both the Insurance Industry and the consumers. People need to understand that at the present time literally anyone can pick up a dent tool and start trying to repair damage on insurance related claims. This business practice should not be acceptable to either the consumers or the insurers themselves.”

Hawkins continued, “By the Insurance Industry supporting and/or mandating that a PDR Technician must be able to prove that they have attained at least a “Craftsman” proficiency level in order to repair PDR related insurance claims by the year 2009, it will solve several problems for the insurers, the consumers, and the repairers, including the latest trend being used by some larger national PDR companies of using illegal and undocumented workers to repair insurance related claims utilizing the PDR method of repair to supplement their sub-contracted work force. These problems are not going to solve themselves and ignoring the issues only magnifies the problems. The NAPDRT is going to continue work to address the problems within the PDR Industry and the support of the Insurance Industry is definitely welcome and will greatly speed the process. This is going to be an interesting test to see if the Insurance Industry wants to actually pitch in and help correct many of the problems plaguing our industry or if it’s more beneficial for them to allow the chaos and confusion to continue, but the ball is now squarely in their court.”

The NAPDRT is a non–profit paintless dent repair trade organization based out of North Carolina and is an associate member of the ASA.
