Safeco Rewards Auto Insurance Discounts to Teensurance Subscribers

Discounts are not yet available in California, Georgia, Kansas, Connecticut, and New York. Safeco is working with regulators to make discounts available to its customers in those areas over the next few months. The discount is applied to the vehicle on which Teensurance is installed and where a youthful operator is present on the policy.

"We're thrilled to be able to offer this discount to our customers," said Matt Gertmenian, head of Teensurance for Safeco. "When we brought out Teensurance we promised that as soon as the data was available we would take it to the regulators and seek adjustments to insurance rates and we've done just that. This discount allows us to help even more families enter a safe environment for young drivers - and that's what Teensurance is all about."

Available in late June, the Teensurance package includes a set of online tools, an on-board GPS and notification technology - the Safety Beacon(TM) - and real-world services that give parents peace of mind and keep teens safe on the road. This bundle of tools enables families to take proactive steps to monitor behavior behind the wheel by allowing them to set speed, distance and curfew limitations, and affords parents constant access to their teens' vehicles and real-time notification so they know immediately if their teen drivers are in danger.

Teensurance is available to new and existing customers with Safeco auto insurance policies, who are eligible to receive the product for a limited-time introductory price of $14.99 per month. The price includes free installation of the Safety Beacon, and is guaranteed for two years. The insurance premium discount will be applied as soon as the Teensurance solution is installed. Customers can choose to register for Teensurance via a secure Web site, www.teensurance.com.
