Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Covers Two Best of Show Cars at SEMA
The SEMA Show, the world’s largest auto enthusiast exhibition, was recently held in Las Vegas and has always showcased custom finished craftsmanship. At the latest SEMA show, three Ford automobiles sporting vibrant colors by Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes (SWAFC) Planet Color(TM), received ‘Best of Show’ awards and L.A. Auto Show selection from Ford’s judges.The first, created by Classic Design Concepts in Novi, Michigan, was for its 1967 Mustang Flashback. Actually new from the ground up, the Flashback is loaded with modern amenities in addition to detail and design quality and was created as the epitome of what today’s well-heeled baby boomer wants: to rejuvenate the past, enjoy the rewards of working hard, and have nothing but the best.
Also honored with a Best of Show, MRT-Direct in Plymouth, Michigan, took a 2007 Lincoln MKZ and enhanced it to become a modern interpretation of the historic Hot Rod Lincoln. From the suicide doors, to the turbo-charged powertrain, the car radiates style and performance.
MRT-Direct also took a 2008 Ford Edge and enhanced this clean, stylish, performance cross-over vehicle into a dazzling, super-charged green machine. As a result of its custom work, this Edge was selected by Ford to showcase its new lineup at the prestigious Los Angeles Auto Show.
For all three winning Ford vehicles, the custom finishes were all produced using SWAFC's Planet Color. Made from a series of optimally enhanced coatings containing special combinations of highly reflective additives, Planet Color offers brilliant, radical, multi-dimensional finishes that are color shifting, iridescent, illuminated, textured and shimmering.
