Business Tools | Thursday October 23 Progressive Updates Groundbreaking Website to Celebrate 10th Anniversary of Online Customer ServiceWhen Progressive became the first auto insurer to let customers access their policies online back in 1998, it revolutionized the way customers could interact with their insurance providers. Today, functionality that lets customers do everything from make policy changes to pay bills online has become the industry norm.To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its online customer self-service site, Progressive has made improvements to the site based on customer feedback, including:
The core functionality that customers have come to know remains intact, including a “What if?” feature that allows users to see how their rate would be affected if they get a new vehicle, change coverage limits, or move. Also, Progressive is still the only car insurer that allows customers to make payments using mobile devices like cell phones, schedule an appointment to get their car fixed, and more. “When Progressive started offering customers unprecedented access to their accounts via the Internet ten years ago, some people thought we were crazy,” said Vikki Nowak, Progressive’s online service director. “But clearly, it was an idea whose time had come. Today, more than 2 million people log into their policies every month and this is the kind of service customers have come to expect.” The Progressive Group of Insurance Companies, in business since 1937, is one of the country’s largest auto insurance groups, the largest seller of motorcycle and personal watercraft policies, and a market leader in commercial auto insurance based on premiums written. ©2008 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
