| | This article originally appeared in the May, 2000 Issue of INSIGHTMay 2000 Editor's Page Did Somebody ay Change? Change is seldom easy, often difficult, sometimes downright painful, but always necessary. Nature’s same uncompromising law that made the dinosaurs vanish ages ago is applied to every species (and business) today. Even in the technologically amazing new Millennium the choice is clear: Change or perish.
Our Collision Repair Industry is confronting change, and, I think, on the whole, even doing a pretty good job anticipating change and taking steps to prepare for it. The CIC meeting, the SCRS National Leadership Conference, the Collision Concepts exhibits and seminars, and the NABC housing project, all taking place in Kansas City in April, are excellent examples of the serious-minded, forward thinking present in every segment of our industry, and the opportunities available to those of us willing to embrace change.
INSIGHT plans to continue to keep pace with changes that can affect our industry. We want our readers, in fact, to be a good step or two ahead of the pack with the cutting-edge information and latest business tools we bring to you every month.
INSIGHT, too, is changing. We bade a fond farewell to Russ Thrall in April. His feature article, an excellent analysis of the new wave of electronic commerce, displayed admirably Russ’s insightfulness about opportunities for change.
This month, we welcome Marc Duvin on board as our new editor. While a newcomer to the Collision Repair Industry, Marc has contributed several articles to INSIGHT over the last few years. In addition, he is an accomplished journalist and attorney. As you can tell from INSIGHT’s new look this month, Marc brings fresh insight to the pages of our newsletter - and more pages, too! John Yoswick, Jake Snyder, and Dennis Cahill will be bringing unique perspectives and extensive expertise to upcoming issues, and I intend to write more than a few articles, too. Sara Gedeon, our very own bright young journalistic star, has been promoted to staff writer.
As indicated on page four, INSIGHT is changing on the international front, too, with publication of INSIGHT Canada slated for Fall, 2000, and talks underway for an upcoming European version, too. Added to the already well-established Japanese language version of INSIGHT these publications will be sure to keep up with changes in the worldwide collision repair marketplace.
Change... Did I mention that change can be exciting, too?
