Business Tools | This article originally appeared in the March 2006 Issue of INSIGHT Being a Renaissance Personby Karen Kilbane
I have heard that one mark of a successful person is the ability to look at information in a new way. Being ready and able to gain knowledge in a wide variety of fields, both old and new, and to skillfully create new ways of doing things differently and better describes what scholars call a Renais-sance Man. Of course, from my politically correct perspective, we will inclusively term this a “Renaissance Person.” Our feature article this month will encourage you to apply information from an entirely different field in a new way. Give it a try, and let us know what works for your facility. In a shrinking Market, with costs continuing to rise across the board, being flexible and creative may very well make a huge difference for any business. Take a look at movers and shakers in other industries and in Collision Repair to learn new ways and new problem solving methods. A true Renaissance Person was my dear friend and mentor, Russ Verona, who died in February. Verona, owner of East Rockford Collision, in Illinois, was learning and thinking and coming up with new ways of doing things right up until he took his last breath. His legacy is large. Verona was active in I-CAR from its beginning- a firm believer in state-of-the-art training and equipment. He attended every NACE event - always looking for ways to make the industry better. He was a networker before people in business realized that sharing information is essential. He was always willing to ask - and answer - questions. Verona was courtly, and kind, and always graciously willing to make time for a good talk or a shared laugh, with an industry big wig or a new apprentice. The entire Collision Repair Industry mourns the passing of Russ Verona. oFeedbackHave a comment about this article? Send Email to Editor ©2006 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT |
