Business Tools | This article originally appeared in the September 2007 Issue of INSIGHT Complete Repair Plansby Karen Kilbane
This month’s feature article takes a fresh look at an old problem: the supplement. Some wise heads in the Collision Repair Industry are suggesting banning the time-consuming and often inaccurate initial estimate from the modern shop and replacing it with a “complete repair plan.” Does thinking outside the box make you nervous? Stay calm, and read what can be done to make sense of the estimating process. Just before this issue went to the printer, the industry learned of the passing of March Taylor, the well-known and respected industry participant who graciously contributed some of his wisdom to our feature article. He will be missed by the national organizations and the many individuals with whom he shared his considerable expertise. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time. His family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations to a memorial in March Taylor's name can be made which will be used to provide I-CAR classes for technicians who do not have the financial means to attend on their own or through their employers. This is being established through the I-CAR Educational Foundation. Checks may be made payable and sent to: The March Taylor Memorial Educational Fund c/o I-CAR Education Foundation 5125 Trillium Boulevard Hoffman Estates, IL 60192 Notes, cards and remembrances can be sent to March Taylor’s shop address: Auto Body Hawaii 73-5601 Maiau Street Kailua Kona, HI 96740. oFeedbackHave a comment about this article?
