Business Tools | This article originally appeared in the October 2008 Issue of INSIGHT Where Are We Headed?by Karen Kilbane
Considering the tensions swirling around us lately - the financial turmoil, a hotly contested presidential race, hurricane destruction - our feature article this month allows us to slow down for a few minutes and review the year’s hot topics from past issues of INSIGHT. I have learned, often the hard way, that at least a few minutes each and every day should be devoted to review and reflect on the day’s events, both personally and professionally. To move forward with any hope of success, I must look back and look around me every day. These few minutes are a big component of my future success. When I know where I have been and where I am today, then I can gather what I need to map a path to a future in which I want to be. I need to keep my head to proceed in the right direction. During the past week or so I think we have all learned more than we ever thought we would about Wall Street, banks, mortgages, and Congressional arguments. It seems that all Americans are holding their breaths and crossing their fingers - hoping that whatever version of a bailout plan, which will probably be passed in the House of Representatives very soon, will deliver the results we need to turn our economy around. With the election only a few weeks away, I urge you to be well-informed and prudent citizens, and to exercize your right to vote. Head out to the polls. Speaking of heading in the right direction, I urge you, for the sake of your business, to make plans to attend NACE 2008 at the beautiful Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, November 5 through November 8. Register on line today at: www.NACEexpo.com. Time is running out! Use your head, plan ahead, and get ahead. oFeedbackHave a comment about this article?
