Our feature article this month revisits some of the hot topics we have tracked during the past several months. Be sure to read the updates on key issues, such as the potential impact on our industry from the larger decrease in the number of accidents we are seeing in the U.S. and the many sides of the issue of developing industry-wide repair standards. While we are reading about the amount of time and energy put forth by the CIC Repair Standards Advisory Committee all of us Collision Repair Industry participants should be very grateful. Check out more information on page 8. Help is needed for this undertaking. The cost of the business case development, including initial organizational costs, is projected to be $60,000 and the group is seeking the support of industry sponsors to fund the project. The goal of the committee is to present the business case to the industry detailing the consensus of repairers, insurers, and other stakeholders during a special meeting prior to the November CIC meeting in Las Vegas during the SEMA show. Audatex, a Solera company, wants to help enhance the future of the Collision Repair Industry by offering a $25,000 matching grant to provide one California school’s collision program with an Ultimate Collision Education Makeover through the Collision Repair Education Foundation. On a lighter note - after all we should have some fun in the Summer - LKQ Corporation, the largest auto and truck recycler in the United States, has invited all car enthusiasts to show off their best and brightest work by submitting an entry into the LKQ 2012 Car Calendar Contest. Thirteen winners will have their classic, custom, or project car or truck featured in the company’s 2012 Car Calendar.
